Chelan Sweeps Cascade, Girls Lock Up Second in CTL and Boys Claim Another League Title

The Chelan Goats hosted the Cascade Kodiaks on Thursday night and came away with a sweep, as both the girls and boys teams picked up convincing CTL victories on their home floor.

The Chelan girls set the tone early, jumping out to a 16–6 lead after the first quarter and never looking back. The Goats continued to build their advantage in each period, leading 26–14 at halftime and 34–18 after three before closing out a 41–33 win. Brynn Hughbanks led the way with a game-high 25 points, while five other Goats found the scoring column, including Jayden Simmons, Jayzee Hughbanks, Avari Baker, Ximena Chavez, and Esther Petersen. With the win, Chelan secured second place in the CTL standings regardless of remaining results. That finish earns the Goats a home playoff game, as they will host the CTL No. 3 seed on February 7 in a loser-out, winner-to-districts matchup.

The Chelan boys followed with a dominant performance of their own, overwhelming Cascade from the opening tip. The Goats raced out to a 27–1 first-quarter lead and cruised to a 41–11 halftime advantage. Chelan continued to pour it on in the second half, leading 60–20 after three and finishing with a 67–26 victory. Tev Uttech and Luca Faletto each scored 17 points to pace the Goats, while Trevor Faletto added 16. The win clinched Chelan’s second consecutive CTL league title and secured the Goats an automatic bid into the District 5 tournament.

It was a complete night for Chelan basketball, with both teams delivering strong performances and reaching major milestones as the postseason approaches.
