The Chelan girls basketball team wrapped up a busy two-day stretch by splitting a pair of games, showing resilience on the road before returning home to host a rival matchup.
The Goats opened the stretch on the road at Okanogan against the Bulldogs and put together an impressive comeback victory. Trailing early, Chelan battled back as the game progressed, with quarter scores of 11–15, 23–27, 38–36, and a strong finish to secure a 57–49 win. Brynn Hughbanks delivered a remarkable performance, pouring in 35 points to lead the comeback. Jayzee Hughbanks added 9 points, Jayci Simmons chipped in 4, and four other Goats contributed 2 points apiece to round out the scoring.
The following day, Chelan returned home to host longtime rival Cashmere in another Bulldogs matchup. After a competitive first half, the Goats couldn’t keep pace down the stretch, falling 41–31. Quarter scores were 13–14, 22–20, 26–30, and 31–41. Brynn Hughbanks once again led the way with 18 points, while Esther Petersen added 7, Jayden Simmons finished with 4, and Faryn Huewe scored 2.
The Goats will now get a short break before returning to action on January 6, when they travel to Liberty Bell for another non-league matchup.
