The Chelan Goats entered the 2025 WIAA 1A State Volleyball Tournament with one goal—make history. And over three dominant rounds in the Yakima SunDome, that is exactly what they did.

Day 1: Statement Sweeps

The Goats opened the tournament as the #1 overall seed, and from the first serve, they looked every bit the favorite.
In their opener against #16 seed Bear Creek School, Chelan set the tone with a commanding sweep, winning 25-17, 25-7, 25-15. Their aggressive offense and relentless serve pressure quickly overwhelmed the Grizzlies and launched the Goats into the quarterfinals.

Next up was #8 seed Kalama, a traditionally tough program. But once again, Chelan’s consistency and firepower proved too much, as they cruised to another sweep, 25-13, 25-18, 25-16, earning a spot in the State Semifinals.

Semifinal Thriller vs. Cashmere

In the semis, the Goats faced their District 5 rival, the #5-seeded Cashmere Bulldogs, for the third time this season. Though Chelan had won the previous matchups (3-0, 3-1), Cashmere came ready for a fight—and delivered one of the most intense matches of the tournament.

The two teams battled point for point, trading momentum and pushing each other to the limit. Chelan ultimately prevailed in a five-set classic:
22-25, 25-16, 25-20, 22-25, 15-9.

The victory sent the Goats back to the State Championship match for the sixth straight year, with history hanging in the balance.

Championship Match: Goats Complete the Mission

In the final, Chelan squared off with the Meridian Trojans, a team they had swept earlier this season. With unmatched focus and determination, the Goats delivered their strongest performance of the tournament when it mattered most.

Chelan controlled all three sets from start to finish, defeating Meridian 25-15, 25-12, 25-17 to secure the 2025 1A State Volleyball Championship.

A Historic Achievement

With the victory, the Chelan Goats claimed their sixth consecutive state title—a feat never before achieved in Washington high school volleyball history at any classification.

Previously, Mead High School held the record with five straight championships. Chelan has now surpassed that mark, cementing themselves as the most dominant volleyball dynasty the state has ever seen.

Six straight. A perfect season. A place in the record books forever.
