Opening

As we honor these achievements of the past, we strive to inspire a culture of success and excellence for future generations.
This year, we were thrilled to induct two outstanding honorees whose stories exemplify the spirit of athletic excellence and determination.”
Inductee: 2013 Chelan Boys Soccer Team
“The 2013 Chelan Boys Soccer Team produced one of the most memorable seasons in Chelan High School history.
That year, the Goats finished with a 16–7–1 overall record, capturing the League Championship, District Championship, and ultimately the 1A State Championship. This team showed resilience, belief, and unity throughout the season, consistently rising to the challenge in pressure-filled moments.
Beyond the championship run, this team helped establish a standard of excellence that elevated the entire Chelan soccer program. Five athletes from the roster went on to play college soccer, and in the years following this title, Chelan boys soccer went on to win five consecutive league championships.
The championship roster included:
David Cruz, Miguel Sanchez, Diego Avina, Livan Barajas, Julio Vera, Edbin Vargas, Humberto Ramirez, Alexis Bravo, Juan Garcia, Fausto Vierya, Jose Valencia, Alejandro Angulo, Ivan Magdaleno, Eleazar Galvan, Danny Mendoza, Abelino Fari’as, Erick Garcia, Javier Mata, and Juan Galvez.
This team was led by coaches Jamie Richards, Jim Broome, Gilberto Romero, and Hugo Sanches, whose leadership helped elevate Chelan soccer to new heights.
We proudly recognize and induct the 2013 Chelan Boys Soccer Team into the Chelan High School Athletic Hall of Fame.”
Inductee: Coach Joe Harris
“Coach Joe Harris dedicated 31 years to coaching varsity basketball in Washington State, including six seasons at Bridgeport High School and 25 seasons at Chelan High School, retiring in 2016.
Over his career, Coach Harris compiled a 517–258 record, leading teams to 13 league championships, seven district and regional titles, 13 state tournament appearances, and eight state trophies, highlighted by the 1998 State Championship.
Coach Harris’ influence extended far beyond the basketball court. In 2011, he was inducted into the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, and in 2022, he received national recognition with induction into the National High School Basketball Coaches Association Court of Honor.
He is an 11-time League Coach of the Year, a two-time WIBCA State Coach of the Year, and has served the coaching community for more than 25 years, including his current role as President of the WIBCA. He also directed the Lake Chelan Spring Coaches Clinic for over two decades.
In addition to basketball, Coach Harris coached football and softball, served as a physical education teacher and strength and conditioning coach, and impacted countless students and athletes throughout his career.
Tonight, we proudly recognize Coach Joe Harris for his lifelong dedication and lasting impact on Chelan High School athletics.”
