Chelan Soccer Battles Quincy and Omak

The Chelan Goats girls soccer team faced a challenging two-game stretch this week, traveling to Quincy on Thursday before returning home Saturday for a key CTL matchup against Omak. Despite the adversity, the Goats showed resilience and determination throughout both contests.

Chelan at Quincy – Goats Fall 2-0 to the 15th-Ranked Jacks

Thursday evening, the Goats traveled to Quincy to take on the 15th-ranked 2A Quincy Jacks in a non-conference matchup. The Goats entered the contest ready for a test, knowing Quincy had defeated Cascade earlier in the season by a narrow 2-1 score.

Chelan came out composed and competitive, controlling possession in stretches and creating multiple chances on goal. However, the Jacks’ speed and precision allowed them to break through twice in the first half. The second half was evenly matched, with neither side finding the back of the net.

Despite the 2-0 result, the Goats’ defensive effort and ball movement showed promise against a talented Quincy squad. Unfortunately, the night also brought some tough news as Chelan lost two key players to injuries: freshman Ximena Figueroa (high ankle sprain) and sophomore leading scorer Brinna Mercado (partial MCL tear). The team will look to its depth to step up in the coming weeks.

JV Recap:
The Chelan JV also faced Quincy, battling hard with limited numbers—playing with just 11–12 players. The Jacks took a 1-0 lead into halftime and used their deeper bench to add three more in the second half, taking a 4-0 win. Despite the scoreline, the Goats showed effort and heart throughout.

Chelan vs. Omak – Goats Fall 3-1 in CTL Showdown

After a long week that included matches against Cascade and Quincy, the Goats wrapped things up Saturday at home in an important CTL matchup against the Omak Pioneers. The two teams had gone to overtime in their last meeting, with Omak edging out a PK win late.

This time, Chelan struck first. Senior Ashlynn España sent a perfectly placed ball across the box to junior Madeline Cowan, who finished cleanly over the Pioneer goalkeeper to give the Goats the early advantage. Omak managed to equalize just before halftime, sending the teams to the break tied 1-1.

In the second half, Chelan battled to regain control, but the Pioneers capitalized on their opportunities, scoring twice more to secure a 3-1 victory. The Goats’ energy and effort never wavered, and they’ll look forward to another chance against Omak with postseason implications on the line.

JV Recap:
The JV Goats faced Omak in a small-sided matchup and came out firing, dominating play from start to finish. Junior Ariana Flores led the way with two goals, while Kloe West, Keyma Castro, and Lucia Galvan each added one. The Goats cruised to a strong win and will close out their season next week against Cascade, whom they defeated in their last meeting.

Chelan will return home on Tuesday at 4 p.m. for their final home match and Senior Night, where they will honor their six seniors for their dedication and contributions to the program.
