Girls Soccer vs Bridgeport

Tonight, the Goats hosted the Bridgeport Fillies for a non-conference match. The Goats came out strong with continual attacks on the goal. Unfortunately, even with the large number of shots on goal, the Goats were struggling to finish the ball into the back of the net. The Fillies came out after the Goats attempted a goal and countered, found a hole in the Goats’ defense, and were able to sneak a goal in just prior to the first half ending.

At halftime, the Goats discussed picking up the communication and drive so we could find the back of the net. In the 52nd minute of play, the Goats were pressing the goal and had multiple attempts on frame. Jr. Natalia Granados sent the ball across the front of the goal, and So. Brianna Mercado worked her way through the Fillies’ defensive line and was able to redirect the ball to give the Goats a goal.

It was only a few short minutes later that the Fillies were able to counter and go ahead again. With not enough time left, the game unfortunately beat the Goats today. The Goats will be home again this Thursday against the Brewster Bears.

The Goats head to Bellingham to take on Meridian and Nooksack Valley on Saturday in a non-league double header.
