Goats Soccer lost in a close match 2-1 to Nannies

This evening, the Goats hosted the Pateros Nannies for a non-conference challenge. The Nannies have a very strong side with some fast and aggressive players. The Goats came out fast, putting pressure on the Nannies’ defense. They were able to get a few quick attacks, which the Nannies were able to fend off.

The Nannies, however, stepped up their game in the final 30 minutes of the first half of play and were able to capitalize and put two in the back of the net. At halftime, the Goats discussed what adjustments needed to be made to regain control of the match. Minor adjustments to the offense were made, and the Goats continued to attack the Nannies’ back line. It was after multiple attacks from the Goats that they were able to garner a corner kick. Jr. Madeline Cowan struck the ball across the goal, bouncing around through a few defenders’ feet. So. Brianna Mercado was able to get a foot on the ball and finish it into the back of the net.

The Goats continued to pressure the goal with many opportunities that just missed. The level of pressure from the Goats in the second half of play is what the coaching staff told the team at the end; they are looking for in the entire run of play.

This Saturday, the Goats will travel north to Liberty Bell to take on the Mountain Lions.
