Chelan Cross Country Shines at Omak Invitational

The Chelan Goats took to Omak’s East Side Park yesterday for the annual Omak Invitational, racing against tough competition on the 5,000-meter course. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams showcased depth and determination, with athletes across all grade levels contributing strong efforts.

Boys Race
Chelan’s boys finished 4th overall with 80 points, narrowly missing the team podium. Sophomore Conner Scaman paced the Goats, placing 5th overall in 17:55. He was followed closely by Austin Zimmer (12th, 18:56), giving Chelan two in the top 15. Seniors Sebastian Cisneros (20th, 19:32) and Holden Alteio (21st, 19:42), along with sophomore Fernando Saucedo (22nd, 19:43), closed out the scoring five.

Chelan’s depth was on display with several more athletes crowding the top 30: Cooper Neff (24th, 19:59), Andrew Alcala (25th, 20:01), and freshman Edison Garton (28th, 21:14). Additional strong varsity and JV efforts came from Johannes Lund (32nd, 21:37), Saul Leyva (36th, 22:12), Elias Ruelas (38th, 22:25), Skyler Kenoyer (39th, 22:31), Jackson Strode (50th, 29:11), and Jesus Espinoza Diaz (52nd, 32:10).

Girls Race
For the girls, junior Indy Fielding delivered the highlight of the day, powering away from the field to win the race in 20:03, more than a minute ahead of her closest competitor. Senior Hailey Fogelson showed toughness and determination, finishing 21st in 33:52 on the challenging course.

The Goats move ahead as they host their home meet on Thursday October 9th at Beebe Bridge Park. This will also be Senior Night!
