
The Chelan Goats traveled to Lynden this past Saturday for a first-round state matchup against the Lynden Christian Lyncs, falling 84–63 in a fast-paced contest.
The Lyncs came out strong, building an early advantage behind a 24-point first quarter. Chelan battled to stay within reach, but Lynden Christian extended its lead in the second period, taking a 44–28 edge into halftime.
The Goats responded with their best offensive stretch in the third quarter, pouring in 23 points and showing resilience on both ends of the floor. Despite the surge, the Lyncs answered in the fourth to secure the 84–63 win.
Chelan was led by Tev Uttech with 21 points and Luca Faletto with 18. Trevor Faletto added 9, Finn Hayes chipped in 7, Orestad scored 6, and Wagner contributed 2. Armenta, Richardson, Morgan, N. Hayes, Simmons, and Sanderson also saw action for the Goats in the state opener.
With the result, Chelan now turns its focus to a win-or-go-home matchup against Cascade Christian at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Yakima Valley SunDome. The winner advances in the state tournament, while the loser’s season comes to a close.
