Goats Pull Away From Wolves, Advance With 76–67 Win Host State Play-In Next

The Goats defended their home court Thursday night, defeating the Wapato Wolves 76–67 in their second matchup of the tournament. In a hard-fought contest, Chelan weathered an early battle and pulled away in the second half behind balanced scoring and disciplined play.

The game opened as a defensive struggle, with the Goats edging out a narrow 14–12 lead after the first quarter. Wapato answered in the second, capitalizing on transition opportunities to take a slim 31–28 advantage into halftime. Chelan responded with a strong third quarter, tightening up defensively and regaining control of the game to lead 54–47 heading into the final period. From there, the Goats stayed composed, knocking down key shots and protecting the ball to secure the 76–67 victory.

Chelan’s offense was paced by Luca Faletto’s 21 points, while Tev Uttech added 18 and Trevor Faletto chipped in 17. Finn Hayes contributed nine points, and Anthony Armenta added six. A major difference in the game came in ball control, as the Goats committed just eight turnovers compared to the Wolves’ 18, allowing Chelan to generate valuable extra possessions.

With the win, the Goats advance to a pivotal showdown on Saturday, when they will host the Lakeside Eagles at 2 p.m. at CHS. The stakes are clear: loser out, winner punches a ticket to the state tournament.
