Goats Sweep Mt. Lions at Home

Chelan Sweeps Liberty Bell at Home

The Chelan basketball teams defended their home court in a big way on Saturday night, earning a sweep over the Liberty Bell Mountain Lions.

The Chelan girls set the tone early, jumping out to a 21–6 lead after the first quarter and never looking back. The Goats continued to build their advantage in each period, leading 36–16 at halftime and 47–20 after three on their way to a convincing 57–23 victory. Brynn Hughbanks led the scoring effort with 17 points, while Jayzee Hughbanks added 13. Ester Petersen chipped in 10 points, and Jayci Simmons rounded out the balanced attack with 7.

The Chelan boys followed with an impressive statement win over the second-ranked team in the 2B ranks. After a competitive opening quarter, the Goats took control in the second, heading into halftime with a 41–19 lead. Chelan continued to dominate in the second half, extending the margin to 64–30 after three and closing out a 70–41 win. Tev Uttech and Trevor Faletto powered the offense with 28 and 25 points respectively, while Luca Faletto added 14 to cap off a strong team performance. The victory also served as redemption for the Goats after falling to the Mountain Lions earlier this season in Winthrop.

Next up, Chelan returns to action at home on Tuesday when the Goats host the Okanogan Bulldogs, a night that will also celebrate Chelan’s senior athletes.
