Mountain Goat Weekend Recap

SOFTBALL:

The Chelan Goats softball team battled through a dramatic doubleheader on Saturday, splitting games with the Cle Elum Warriors (2B) in a day full of momentum swings and resilience.

In game one, the Goats found themselves in an early hole, trailing 9-0 after three innings. Rather than folding, Chelan mounted an incredible comeback, chipping away inning by inning before erupting late to tie the game at 13-13 in the bottom of the seventh. The contest pushed into extra innings, where the Warriors were able to edge out a 15-13 victory in the eighth.

Offensively, patience at the plate proved key for Chelan, as Jayden Simmons and Henly Gardner each drew five walks. Gardner, Jayden Elliott, Faryn Huewe, and Cat Valdez all delivered clutch performances, driving in two runs apiece to fuel the rally.

The Goats bounced back in a big way in game two, earning a dominant 13-3 win in six innings. Olivia Mack returned to the circle and delivered a steady performance, striking out four while issuing just one walk. Chelan’s offense capitalized on control issues from the Warriors, drawing 13 walks and consistently applying pressure.

Five different Goats recorded RBIs in the win, with Gardner (1), Elliott (2), Mack (2), Huewe (2), and Valdez (1) all contributing to the balanced attack.

Chelan will look to carry that momentum forward as they return home to face the Okanogan Bulldogs on Tuesday, April 14.

SOCCER:

The Chelan Goats boys soccer team faced a tough challenge against the Everett Seagulls, falling 4-0 in non-league action.

Everett found the back of the net twice in the first half and added two more goals after the break to secure the win. Despite the result, the match served as a valuable test for the Goats against a larger 3A program, giving Chelan an opportunity to compete against higher-level competition and continue to grow.

The Goats will look to take what they learned into league play as they open on the road against Brewster on Saturday, April 11th.
