The Chelan Mountain Goats golf team wrapped up day one of the 1A State Golf Tournament with strong performances across the board and will have multiple athletes competing again today.

On the girls side, both 8th grader Hallie Clinton and freshman Sydney Weston made the cut and advanced to day two. Hallie put together an impressive opening round score of 87, placing her 8th overall heading into the final day. Sydney battled her way to a 93 and currently sits in 20th place. Both golfers teed off this morning looking to climb the leaderboard and finish strong.

On the boys side, 8th grader Connor Dragoo narrowly missed advancing to day two after carding a season-best 85, finishing just three strokes shy of the cut line. Connor’s round capped off an outstanding 8th grade season and showed he belongs on the state stage.

Senior Carson Clinton delivered one of the top rounds of the tournament on day one, firing a 5-under-par 67 to finish the day in second place, just one stroke off the lead heading into the final round. Carson is set to tee off this morning at 10:20 as he looks to chase down a state championship.
