Wrestling Recap – Best Of The West

Chelan traveled to Pasco High School to compete in the Best of the West Team Duals on Friday and the Best of the West Individual Tournament on Saturday.

On Friday, Chelan dropped duals to Newberg High School (OR) and Washougal High School, but the team battled back to finish the day strong with wins over Columbia High School and Liberty Bell High School. After a slow start, the boys showed resilience and finished the day competing with confidence and intensity.

On Saturday, Chelan competed in the individual tournament, which featured some of the toughest competition in the region with teams from Oregon and Washington across all high school divisions. The Goats had a strong showing, highlighted by JR Maddoc Finch placing 4th at 175 lbs, Senior Sebastian Cisneros placing 6th at 138 lbs, and Sophomore Gage Pucket placing 8th at 165 lbs.

Overall, the team wrestled well and fought hard all weekend. This tournament demanded effort in every match—there were no easy bouts—and Chelan gained valuable experience that will pay off as the season continues.

“We had a slow start on Friday, but I was proud of how our guys responded and finished strong. This was one of the toughest tournaments we’ll see all season, and every match required a battle. The experience we gained this weekend will make us better moving forward.” – Coach Linton
